History
Prior to being placed with us at Safe Haven, Dash was hit by a car. Because the state of Nevada does not permit the rehabilitation and reintroduction of foxes to the wild, Dash had no other choice but to become a permanent resident.
Dash was very timid and shy, and initially tended to avoid our other fox residents. It wasn’t until we introduced Dash to Sierra, another kit fox resident, that he finally came out of his shell. The two were great friends, constantly running and playing together in their den. Sierra misses him now.
About Kit Foxes
Native to Nevada, kit foxes are about half the size of red foxes, with notably larger ears. They live in the open desert with a life span of four to seven years, but can live as long as 14 years in captivity.
