History

Roy is one of five African servals that had been privately owned in Colorado. His owner had bred Roy and Myra, resulting in siblings Ricky, Tanzi and Simba. After being rescued, Safe Haven agreed to accept all five servals as long as the owner spayed and neutered them before their arrival.

Roy, like most of our other servals, is very shy and can usually only be seen in the early mornings and evenings. Roy enjoys playing with balls and other scented enrichment items.

About African Servals

African servals are small, lean, wild cats who are native to the Africa savannah. They have very distinctive coats with black stripes and spots. Their hunting skills are driven by a keen sense of smell and their ability to jump as high as 12 feet in order to catch birds and other prey. Although servals generally don’t live beyond 10 years in the wild, they can live into their early twenties in captivity.
