History
Sierra, like Dash, had been hit by a car when she was only a year old. Thankfully, after much care, she was able to make a full recovery and joined us shortly thereafter as one of Safe Haven’s permanent residents.
To ease introductions between Sierra and the other foxes, we constructed a small cage for her within the larger fox enclosure. Once Sierra met the rest of the foxes, she and Dash became fast friends and were always together, cuddling under their shaded platform.
Sierra had been with us for just under 2 short years.
About Kit Foxes
Native to Nevada, kit foxes are about half the size of red foxes, with notably larger ears. They live in the open desert with a life span of four to seven years, but can live as long as 14 years in captivity. In the wild, kit foxes generally mate for life, with litters containing anywhere from one to seven pups.
