Isabella

Isabella began her residency in 2025

HISTORY

Isabella came along with Jabari from a roadside Oregon zoo, where she was used for cub petting when she was younger. After getting too old for handling, she was placed in a very small enclosure with limited food and enrichment. 

She has a very calm demeanor and mostly enjoys sleeping through the day. We were told she was around 19 years old when we got her, which would explain why she prefers napping so much! She is also very friendly towards staff and likes to walk along the fence with them

ABOUT AFRICAN LIONS

The African lion’s mane helps to protect them when fighting. Roaring establishes their territory and can be heard as far as five miles away.
